Frequently Asked Questions

Glow Web Design

Who provides the content for my website?

You will need to provide us with the content you require for each page that we build for you, however we do offer content writing as an additional service should you prefer not to write it yourself. You would simply need to fill in a questionnaire about your product or service so we have the right information to write your content.

Can I use my business logo / colours?

Absolutely. If you can provide your logo and/or colours, we would be more than happy to incorporate them into your website for you.

How long will it take to get my website built?

As a guide, a three page website will take approximately two to four weeks, however this will naturally vary depending on how many changes you make, how soon we receive content, additional pages etc.

What is a 'domain' and 'web hosting'?

A 'domain' is the address or, if you prefer, the 'name' of your website, eg: www.yourwebsite.com, and 'hosting' can be described as the 'rent' you pay to have your website available on the world wide web for everyone to see.

Is the cost of the domain name and the web hosting included in your fees?

No. Because the domain registration and web hosting are paid to a third party and will be ongoing annual fees, these charges will be your responsibility, however we do offer to set up your domain registration and web hosting for you at no additional charge. Rest assured that these fees are minimal and won't add a great deal to your ongoing expenses. Refer to the fees page for more detailed information about domain registration and web hosting costs.

What's the difference between a .com and .com.au and which one is better for my business?

A .com.au domain is one that is specific to Australian businesses, so if you have a product, service or retail outlet that caters only to Australian residents, this might be for you. A .com.au website is only available to Australian registered businesses and as such your ABN will be required.

A .com website is recognised worldwide and a great choice for any product or service that isn't exclusive to Australian residents. A .com domain doesn't require an ABN.

Do I have to be in Australia to take advantage of your services?

Not at all! The beauty of technology is that we can correspond easily via email or the telephone no matter where you are in the world.

How do I get my website to come up in a Google search?

Whilst it does appear simple, there is a large amount of time and effort that goes into optimising a website for the search engines. Refer to the questions about Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) below for more details.

What is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?

Search Engine Optimisation or 'SEO' is the process of getting your website indexed so that it is found when a particular search term is typed into a search engine. To use another website we have built as an example, when you type the words 'life coach brisbane' into google, first on the page you will see the website www.lifecoachbrisbane.com as a result of SEO.

Why is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) so expensive?

The reason that SEO is so much more expensive than even building the website is because of how much more time and effort is put in to getting the desired result. It's a slow process, consisting of many elements such as on page optimisation (ensuring the right keywords are consistently used on your website), one way links back to your site on the internet, article writing, blogs and many other varied tools and processes to see your site get to where it needs to be.

For most small businesses this may not be necessary as having a website where you can direct customers from your business card or the yellow pages may be sufficient.

What do I need to do if I have any changes to my website in the future?

Any time you wish to make changes in the future simply let us know and it would be our pleasure to alter your website accordingly. Please note that any changes beyond the initial creation of your website will incur the standard amendment fees.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Paypal, bank deposits, cheques money orders and cash. A $200 deposit is required upon commencement of work, with the balance due upon completion.

How do I get started?

Simply go to the Website Brief page and enter as much information as you can about your business, product or service and we'll get in touch with you about what's needed to get started on building your new website!
